Jonas Steel (see history) was not a warrior. But circumstances of his day called for him to take up arms. To aid Steel, the Grand Temple granted him the use of a magic shield, thought to have once been owned by the Paladin hero Prator.
Since the end of Steel's time, the shield had been housed in the Walled City, and only used in dire emergencies. When the capital fell to Jarlo Webb, the shield disappeared, and it has never been recovered.
